HAMDEN, CT - (From Hamden Memorial Funeral Home) Angie (Montgomery) Arnold was born August 4, 1976 in New Haven, Connecticut and was called Home to be with the Lord on December 11, 2021.

Angie was the 2 of 7 children born to SadieJ ean Montgomery and the late Joseph Montgomery.

Angie attended the distinguished Hopkins School in New Haven where she excelled academically and was an avid member of the drama club where she honed her acting ability and developed an eye for directing and producing.

The stage allowed Angie to be her true self and set the course for much of her life.

Angie continued her education at Wesleyan University where she triple-majored and earned Bachelor of Arts in English, Film Study, and African American History in 1998. Angie's love of writing and film led her to attend Columbia University where she received a Master of Fine Arts in 2002.

She never forgot her New Haven roots but quickly fell in love with New York City.

After a short return to New Haven, Angie left once again to attend Massachusetts Institute of Technology ("MIT") where she was awarded a full fellowship to MIT based on her academic achievement and commitment to community.

Angie earned a Master of Business Administration from the MIT Sloan School of management in 2005 to combine her love of the arts with a business acumen to support her dream of writing and producing TV shows.

It was also at MIT where she met her future husband, Artis Arnold III, but their story took more time to unfold.

Angie's passion for film, television, and writing continued long after she left school. She would dissect a movie or TV series with depth and precision and was always ready with recommendations.

But she was just as happy to indulge in a few reality TV shows for laughs.

In June 2018 Angie published her first book, "Rivers Under Water", a carefully woven story of a woman who searches for love and spiritual liberation over the course of three generations in the Deep South.

She wrote the book as a homage to her parents lives and their ability, as she stated, "to persist, resist, and swim under water."

Angie also had the unique experience to write and produce an off-Broadway play, "The Standard Upgrade."

She staged the play in New York and had several table readings in New Haven, and at the Shaw Theatre in London, England.

Angie won the Miss Black Connecticut Pageant, a fact that she bashfully shared. Angie was certainly a beauty, often stopping people in their tracks, but her brain—that was fierce. Beyond her beauty and intelligence, Angie was funny and caring.

Angie had an infectious laugh with a dimpled smile that would light up a room and a sharp wit to match. She was deeply empathetic and would not hesitate to share her last dollar, lend a hand to someone in need, or offer a listening ear.

Above all, Angie loved her family—the source of her strength. She would often tell funny and loving stories about growing up in a big family. Angie also loved her "rescue kitties": Sexy Mama, Tiger Lily, Carly, and Patchy.

Most recently her journey took her to Cleveland, OH. While in Cleveland, she was baptized in November 2019 and was an active member of Bethany Baptist Church. On September 17, 2020, Angie married the love of her life, Artis Arnold III.

Their friendship began during their time at MIT and developed into a beautiful romance when their paths crossed over 12 years later.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved husband, Artis Arnold III; her mother, Sadie Jean Montgomery; her sisters Debra, Lekeesha, Lisa, and Kathy; her brothers Michael and Shedreck; her nephews Barshawn, Keith, and Tyrell; her niece Asia; and a host of family members, in-laws, and friends.
